Pennsylvania State Road 550 is a well kept secret. It connects nowhere in particular to nowhere in particular in the middle of the state. It is undulating and curvy, and generally good fun. If you are ever fortunate enough to ride this road on a modern sport bike, it would be a blast. However, on a 1973 /5 ridden between 50 and 70mph, it is a thrill-seeking roller-coaster combined with the tail of the dragon! Having only four gears is about right, and being full of AV gas is perfect. It is about rhythm rather than horse power, momentum rather than torque. I am sure that the guy on the liter bike that followed me for a while was highly entertained seeing the Krausers at such lean angles. All told, there is no better way to spend a September afternoon.
