Porsche AG has just completed the restoration of a 1973 911T coupe in collaboration with Stuttgart based Porsche Classic Workshop and the Porsche Club of America. Similar to BMW’s publicly viewable restoration of a 2002tii a few years ago, this was a restoration by the factory to factory specs using OEM parts. Unlike the BMW effort you could not watch via webcam, but you could follow frequent web updates. You can still see all of the links at The car is set to be auctioned at the Porsche Parade in a few weeks in Savannah Georgia. Very few Porsche enthusiasts should be present at Parade, so I’m expecting it to go for maybe $10k – $15k tops 😉
I'm willing to go $16K 😉
I just watched an old Top Gear episode, where the VW Beetle beats a Porsche 911 😉 Actually they take the opportunity to briefly (in a few seconds) show the history of the 911 and how its origin was the Beetle. Here is the the youtube link (without the history bit, sorry): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyrvfhOI3ls
Have fun!
Paulo, thanks that was a cool clip. Over time I have seen a few Porsche powered Beetles, but from having owned a Beetle, I would not want to drive one past 100mph !! Cheers
